Garbuio Dickinson have pioneered the implementation of automatic opening and handling system for bales of raw tobacco at the start of the Primary Process.
These systems are flexibly designed to include the degree of automation appropriate to the individual application.
Standard packages (typically telescopic or one-piece C48 cartons) are loaded onto feed conveyors and the outer carton removed. If kraft paper is present this is removed and the tobacco visually inspected before the package is inverted. The remaining carton is removed, and kraft paper or polythene lining is also removed.
The cartons are flattened and stacked automatically, and the tobacco bale is conveyed onwards into the process.
Full use is made of the latest robotic handling and automation techniques.
